I am a 57 year old ex rugby player who had a very badly worn right knee. I put off seeking medical intervention for as long as I could but eventually the pain and lack of functionality meant I had to seek help. I did some research and chose Mr Borrill. It was decided that i would need a full knee replacement. From the first consultation to the final discharge consultation Mr Borrill was an absolute superstar. My final outcome has been nothing short of AMAZING and I am 100% pain free with full functionality. Mr Borrill is a Highly Skilled Surgeon who made every effort to ensure that I was fully consulted and informed of the likely outcomes of the surgery. the post operative care was brilliant. if you are unfortunate enough to find yourself needing Knee surgery it would be foolish to consider anyone else. Thank you Mr Borrill.

My daughter needed knee surgery to deal with a meniscal problem. Jonathan clearly explained the diagnosis, what was needed, and how it would be done. He answered all our questions. Operation was carried out successfully; and in a follow up consultation explained the prognosis regarding likely pain etc. All good.

Having been diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis in my knee years ago, I knew at some point I would need a replacement. However, as a member of my local Mountain Rescue Team, and a very active hill walker, I kept putting it off until eventually walking, especially down hill, became an ordeal both mentally and physically. Walking is my life and all I could think of was that my life would be on hold for 3 months at least, and I would even have to be without my dog for 6 weeks or more as I wouldn't be able to walk her, because there is only me and her. So she would have to go to friends. Yet Mr Borrill put my mind at ease from the initial consultation to the final one a week ago. He listened and appreciated my concerns and promised he would have me back up in the fells as quickly as possible. The operation was set for the end of September 2016. I had questions: Would I be able to go on holiday to Skye, the following May, and walk in the mountains for a week? I had been treated to a 4 day break in the North Lakes just before Christmas....would I be fit enough to walk up Catbells, albeit slowly? I admit he gave me one of those "are you mad?" looks, but he gently said there was no reason why not but obviously it would depend on how successful the knee replacement op was and provided I was careful. The surgery went smoothly but I was in a lot of pain. It was only when Mr Borrill got involved was my pain relief eventually sorted. I was home three days after the operation. I worked hard at my physio exercises, pushed myself in terms of staying active and mobile, and consequently soon ditched the crutches. I claimed my dog back after 4 weeks, back at work after 5 and climbed the Old Man of Coniston at 9 weeks post op. I walked up Catbells, and the lower Borrowdale Fells for 4 consecutive days (3-4 hours per day) just before Christmas. In May I spent 5 days walking in the Cuillins on Skye, and earlier this month I completed the West Highland Way. I have surpassed all my expectations. Without Mr Borrill's quiet encouragement and his obvious expertise, I am convinced my recovery would not have been quite so successful. A huge thank you to Mr Borrill and his Team.

I was initially referred to Mr. Borrill in 2012 after my left knee had deteriorated as a result of 35 years of hill running. In the same year he performed an Arthroscopy but after further deterioration, he carried out a Total Knee Replacement in July 2017. At each consultation, I felt at ease and was extremely impressed with his relaxed yet totally professional attitude. He clearly explained what would be involved during both operations together with the percentage of “during and after” risks. He kept my G.P. informed after every consultation and provided me with a copy of each letter. Mr. Borrill is a great listener who provides invaluable advice and without doubt, a brilliant surgeon and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone considering Orthopaedic Surgery.

Mr Borrill took over my treatment to repair my ACL after a previous operation had failed. The operation went well but recovery was a lengthy process so I was in his care for about 2 years. Throughout this time Mr Borrill put me at ease, explained everthing very clearly and always answered all my questions. I am now recovered and returning to netball training. Overall I was very happy with my treatment.
